Alaska Cruises September 2014

Cool days and cooler nights can mean an unimaginable vacation with changing colors that set the scene for the Alaska not many ever get to see. Daylight shortens to between 11 and 13 hours per day opening up the possibility of seeing the Aurora Borealis, Northern Lights, in the northern sky's.

School is in session so the ships seem much quieter than in July or August. Overall across Alaska the crowds of tourist at popular destinations are thinning and prices are dropping as concessionaires attempt to close out their busy summer season. All across the board prices are less than you would pay in the busiest times of the season.

September is a great time to see wildlife in Alaska, especially in the interior regions like Denali Park and the Wrangell St Elias National Park. What you will not miss out on will be a reduction in mosguitoes as the temperatures cool through the Arctic fall.

Those looking for wildlife or wishing to try out the fantastic silver salmon fishing will enjoy September in Alaska. It is cooler and typically damper too but September is the time when you may see that massive bull moose and a rack that often spreads over 60 inches tip to tip. Arctic fox and the wolves in Deanli are far more common to see in September.
